First Batch of Marmalade is made!!

Well I have finally been brave enough to make my first batch of marmalade!!  So it's wait and see, let's hope it tastes ok.  The next thing to make is home made jam.  I think it will be great to serve at breakfast, not only our own home grown sausages and bacon, along with our own black pudding, but now we can also serve home made marmalade and jam!!

Back to School!

We have just had the most fantastic week's holiday, during the last week of the boy's school holidays, which has been great.  Both boys have gone back to school, Sam has started senior school now, and seems to be enjoying it - so far!  We arrived back on Sunday morning, and had guests staying on Sunday night, so straight back into the routine!  Next week I am going to try making some home made marmalade!!  I would so like to offer our guests for their breakfast, along with our own sausages and bacon, home made marmalade and jam!!  Let's hope that I can do it!!  The sun is shining this afternoon, which makes a change, and we're having the house painted on the outside, so that when you arrive, it will look even more attractive!  Hope to see you soon.

A week away on Anglesey!!

We have just come back from one weeks holiday on Anglesey - the weather was very mixed!!  The first half of the week you couldn't get out of the house through wind and rain, and then it brightened up for the second half.   We had lots of people staying, and the boys had friends to play with, so plenty of fish were caught, and lots of fun had by all!!  Bookings aren't too bad at the moment, we are full until the middle of August, then we have a few spaces, so if you feel lilke pampering yourselves with a luxury break - then please do give us a call!  The boys are enjoying the holidays - it's Charlie's birthday tomorrow, which he is looking forward to!  Anyway, must go and empty the washing machine and hang the towels out, while the weather is still dry!!  Hope to meet you soon.

We didn't win!

Just to let you know that we didn't win the Visit Chester and Chester Best Bed and Breakfast award on Friday night.  Although we were disappointed not to win, it was a good process to go through, as we updated and quite a few things in the rooms, and they are both looking great!  We had a fun night out anyway, got home very late, and then I had to get up to serve breakfast in the morning!!  Anyway, just so long as our guests have a great time when they come and stay with us, that's the main thing!!

Not Much to Report

It's just two weeks to go before the Visit Chester and Cheshire Awards Ceremony, where we have been shortlisted in the Best Bed and Breakfast Category.  Again, as said previously, the competition is very tough, but it was a great exercise to do, and we have made some changes to our rooms in anticipation of the  judging (updated the furniture etc).  We have had some lovely guests staying this weekend, it is really a pleasure looking after such lovely people, and we seem to have a few busy weeks ahead, which is good.  The boys are on half term this week, so it's all systems go, with sports courses and friends to play - let's just hope for some decent weather!!  Anyway, do come and stay with us, you'll have a great time!
