Shortlisted in the Visit Chester and Cheshire Awards 2009

Just a little  note to say that we have been short listed in two Categories in the Visit Chester and Cheshire Annual Awards.  Most importantly we have been short listed in the Best Bed and Breakfast category, which I am thrilled about, as the competition was very strong.  We were judged on Wednesday, and I am really not sure how it went, the judge didn't give too much away!  But at the end of the day, I only have to look through our Visitor Comments, and know that what we are doing is really second to none!!

Interestingly, we have also been short listed in the Best Tourism Website Category, which is a great credit to Mark Ogilvie, who has put a tremendous amount of work into our website.  People seem to think that it is easy to navigate around, and it does give the potential guests all the information that they need.  The judging was an interesting process, any technical questions, and I just looked to Mark to answer them!  Between Mark and myself, I think we might have found the right formular to give our guests the information they require to go ahead and book at Churton Heath Farm.

The awards ceremony is on Friday 5th June.  No matter what the outcome, I hope we have a great evening!!

Happy New Year!

Well another year has flown by, and we are ready for the New Year!  We had a lovely Christmas Holidays, the boys had so much fun, and I didn't want them to go back to school today!!  We had a little break over the New Year and went to Anglesey with some friends, plenty of fresh air and fun - highly recommended!  The weather is still very cold here, with black ice, and more freezing temperatures forecast - but don't worry we are all very cosy in the house!  We had our gradings inspector come and do a surprise visit just before Christmas, and again we were award 4star Gold - just what we wanted!!  The B&B bookings are starting to pick up, which is great, and we sold a tremendous amount of meat over the Christmas period - which was fantastic.

May I take this opportunity of wishing you all the Very Best for 2009, and we look forward to welcoming you to Churton Heath Farm, hopefully in the not too distant future!

Snow in October!

We actually had snow this week - as I am sure some of you did too!!  The weather really has been pretty miserable this year, but we finally managed to get the harvest in at the end of September, and the new shed for the cattle is nearly finished - the contractors said it was going to be finished this week, but it looks like another 10 days or so - not great when the cows are still outside in this awful weather, but hey ho!!  The Bed and Breakfast has been pretty full all year - which has been great, and we have some great offers on at the moment - 3 for 2 midweek special, or stay 2 nights and get 10% off.  These offers are only up until Christmas - so book early to avoid disappointment!!  The boys have enjoyed being back at school, and have nearly finished half term, which has been great fun.  The boxed meat scheme is really picking up now, so if you need to order anything, then contact Jim (www.stocktonandstratton.co.uk - 01244 620414) and he will be happy to send you anything you would like to order via post.

We look forward to welcoming any new guests, and also many return guests to Churton Heath Farm, so until then, keep warm!!

A busy August!

We came back from a lovely holiday in Anglesey during the last two weeks of July (we had 10 lovely days of glorious weather), to a very busy August with guests coming and going pretty much every day, which has been great (although somewhat a little hectic).  We have also had a great number of customers coming to look at the play equipment, which has been great.  There's no need to tell you about the weather, it really has been very depressing, and we are way behind on the farm.  Jim is very much wanting to get the harvest in, and start ploughing the fields, but we will have to wait and see!!  The boys have had a great summer holiday, and are just finishing a week's rugby course, which they have really enjoyed.  I can't believe that they go back to school in 10 days, the year seems to be flying by!!   We've still got our midweek 3 for 2 offer on, so why not take it up and come and stay at Churton Heath Farm, we would love to welcome you!!  Hope to see you soon.
